Councillor Allan Witherick (St Albans North) has allocated £500 from his locality budget fund towards the cost of new IT equipment at Townsend C of E School, Sparrowswick Ride, for vulnerable children and those with special educational needs.
Technology has many recognised benefits for children with complex needs and can be invaluable in ensuring good educational progress.
Councillor Witherick said: "I wasn't always the best behaved child at school myself, but I know that it pales in comparison to some of the barriers and difficulties that others face every single day.
"This funding will support equipment which will hopefully give these young people a better start in life and more support for their education."
A total of £10,000 is available to each of the 77 members of Hertfordshire County Council to spend on worthwhile community projects in their area.
Locality budgets were launched in July 2009, with funding to be used for worthy social, economic or environmental causes in Hertfordshire. For information on how to apply for funding under the scheme, visit www.hertsdirect.org/localitybudgets
