Roadworks are set to close one of the main approach roads in to St Albans city centre, when they begin in Verulam Road in 10 day's time.

Work to resurface the A5183 Verulam Road in St Albans, between George Street and the Folly Lane roundabout, will begin on 26 March and last four days.

The £112,000 project will involve resurfacing the carriageway, replacing damaged ironworks and reapplying existing road markings. The work will be carried out in two phases under a full road closure between 9:30am and 9:30pm.

The works will take place on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. No work will be done on Wednesday to avoid conflict with market day in the city centre.

Signed diversions routes will be put in place. Residents and businesses in the area are being written to with full details.

Further details about the works, including road closure and diversion information, will be available on www.hertsdirect.org/roadworks
