Secretary of State for Education visits Alban City School

Michael Gove MP, Secretary of State for Education, visited Alban City School yesterday, Friday, 20th April 2012, to meet members of the new St Albans free school team and to see the school's Hatfield Road site.

There, he met with Janet Goddard, Alban City School's Head Teacher, and Linda Crawley, who leads up the free school project team.
Speaking of Mr Gove's enthusiasnm for the new school, Linda Crawley said: "Mr Gove was extremely impressed by our plans to refurbish the site on the Hatfield Road to create a warm, welcoming, new primary school with excellent facilities."
The ministerial visit to the flagship free school comes a few days after local parents learned which school their children had been allocated places at.
Janet Goddard went on to say: "We are delighted by the overwhelmingly positive response we have received from local parents, and we are keen to encourage parents still looking for a school place for their child for 2012 to visit our website for information about parents evenings which will take place on the 23rd April. 25th and 30th April.
