A St Albans Mum has been celebrating her win at the Mum and Dad Blog Awards 2011. Mum of two, Lisa Pearson, won the UK's Best Small Business Mummy Blog for 'The Mummy Whisperer Blog' in the National MADS Awards, which celebrate the UK's best Mum and Dad Blogs, and are sponsored by Talk Talk and Parentdish.

More than 50,000 nominations and votes were received for the awards, and amongst these Lisa's blog shone to be one of the 75 that made it through to the final.
The Mummy Whisperer Blog gives an honest account of the challenges Lisa faces as a Mum, and features life with Curly Headed Boy, Little Dimples, the Big Hairy Northern Husband and the two dogs. The blog is funny, insightful and provides helpful techniques to enable Mums to keep control and a sense of calm in both their own lives and those of their families.
Lisa found out that she had won the award at a glittering ceremony in London, for which she wore a stunning dress, fresh from the rails of TK Maxx! She also scooped a prize of a Samsung NP-NC210 laptop, courtesy of Talk Talk, who sponsored her award category.
The judges explained what impressed them about Lisa's Blog: "The Mummy Whisperer doesn't pretend to be perfect. She's a real mum, talking to real mums and sharing her parenting tips, and tells us "at 36 I suddenly fell pregnant having been told at 19 that I'd never be able to have children – and Max turned out to be the best teacher I have ever had."
Lisa reacted to her win saying: "I am so chuffed and amazed to have won this award. I started writing a blog in 2009, to record my life as a Mum, and to help me work through the daily challenges. But it has also been a way to reach more Mums than I can 1 to1 and help them as well. Being an award winner means the world to me, and all my family are so proud."
Sally Whittle, who founded the awards said "The MAD Blog Awards celebrates the thousands of parents up and down the country who have discovered blogging as a way to capture family memories and make new friends. The standard of entries this year was incredible, and we're so proud of all our winners for what they've achieved."
Tamsin Kelly, editor of Parentdish.co.uk, added: "The MAD Blog Awards 2011, and our winners, really show the diversity and extraordinary quality of blogs that are being created in the UK. This has been a tremendous achievement by everyone involved, and shows the vital role that blogs continue to play in parents' lives. We are very proud to have sponsored the 2011 MAD Blog Awards."
Lisa has enjoyed writing so much that she's ended up creating a book called 'Six Steps To A Sparkling You And Enjoying Being a Mum' which will be published to the Kindle later this month. The book promises to enlighten Mums on how to gain more contentment, more time, more energy, more space, more money and value in life, and to lead a sparkling life.
Lisa is in the company of many parent bloggers in St Albans - in fact, I've been led to believe St Albans is the capital city of Mum and Dad Blogland, UK! Other local blogs include Mediocre Mum, Daddacool, and Being a Mummy. But if you blog about parenthood, live locally and haven't been given a name check here, please continue the article below. Thanks!
