St Albans Restaurant, Veer Dhara, has been nominated to represent St Albans in a National Award by St Albans MP, Anne Main.
-
St Albans restaurant, Veer Dhara, has been nominated for the Regional Finals of the Lyca Tiffin Cup 2011 by Anne Main, MP for St Albans.
Her nomination puts the Indian restaurant in St Peter's Street in the Regional Final of the Lyca Tiffin Cup, which is a national competition to find the best South Asian restaurant in the country. The MP recommended Veer Dhara for the award as she has heard a great deal of praise about it in the local area, and is very keen on supporting local businesses.
Veer Dhara seeks to deliver an authentic translation of traditional Indian cuisine to its local client base and the wider public. Many of the restaurants dishes have their origins in Indian aristocracy and the ingredients and flavourings used to make them ensure they are true to their roots. According to their website, the concept of the restaurant was the brainchild of Surinder Singh, an entrepreneur, based in Central India. His vision was to offer a new and exciting way to serve Indian food, and to demonstrate that excellence, diversity, tradition and affordability can be combined.
Over the next few weeks, the restaurant will be kept on it's toes, awaiting the arrival of a mystery diner, who will visit the restaurant and judge whether Veer Dhara deserves to represent the region at national level.
Anne Main MP, said: "I am delighted that my nomination for Veer Dhara has been accepted. I hope that Veer Dhara will be chosen to represent our region in the Grand Final of such a prestigious award. I am sure everyone in St Albans will be supporting our restaurant."
Mrs Main let it be known that she is a fan of all Indian food, and thinks it is a great way to spend an evening out with friends.
Is Veer Dhara worthy of the nomination? Have you enjoyed a meal there? Or, do you have another favourite Indian restaurant in St Albans, which you would have rather got the recognition of the nomination?

Comments
We had a meal at Veer Dhara on 1st March, unfortunately we had a bad experience, we were served chicken that was under cooked, quite pink. My Wife ate some before realising there was a problem & has been running to the toilet all day 2nd March.
We pointed it out to the waiter & he said he would tell the chef. They still charged us full price for the meal over £70 including wine even though it had put us of the rest of the meal that we had ordered. An expensive way to get a stomach upset.
Staff were friendly but I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, we left a comment card for them & will be interested to see if we get any response
