There are just two days left for residents, businesses and community groups to give their views on St Albans City and District Council’s proposed strategy for locating future development in the District until 2028.
The consultation, which began in December, runs until 7 February 2011. The proposed strategy sets out the scale, location and type of development needed, including housing, schools, infrastructure, retail, leisure, community facilities, transport and business development.
As the plan will guide development in the District long into the future, it's an important consultation process for local people to be involved in.
The plans can be viewed, and feedback left, on the Council's website at The consultation, which began in December runs until 7 February 2011. The proposed strategy sets out the scale, location and type of development needed, including housing, schools, infrastructure, retail, leisure, community facilities, transport and business development. The Council is keen for as many people as possible to participate.
The plan places an emphasis on the following:
• protecting, proactively managing and enhancing the Green Belt;
• delivering the necessary infrastructure to support any housing growth;
• providing affordable housing and medium-sized family housing;
• improving the District’s schools, shops and community facilities;
• reducing our carbon footprint, particularly by tackling traffic congestion
