Hertfordshire County Council believes that there is a huge shortfall of care facilities for the elderly in St Albans and that if something isn’t done soon, the problem will get worse.
Newlyn Developments wants to build elderly care facilities at Chiswell Green, adjacent to Butterfly World. We have been talking to St Albans Council for over a year and officers have recommended that the site be included in the District’s new development plan (the ‘Core Strategy’). It would cost the public purse nothing. But last week, councillors decided to remove the site even before the draft Core Strategy is published for consultation.
We believe that good quality adult care facilities should be part of the essential infrastructure planned for by councils, along with schools and roads. If you do too, then please make your views known:
