Traffic flow at the Peahen junction is impeded from Chequer St and from Verulam Road due to the pedestrian crossing signals not being phased green.when the main signals are green. The council have stated previously that this is being investigated with very little apparent progress.

I am at a loss as to why the Council does not prioritise this issue more. Congestion consistently comes up as the number one gripe of St Albanians; the phasing at this junction has been rubbish ever since the whole intersection was redesigned, and there have been illegal pollution levels as a result for the last couple of years.
Council is currently considering a list of a couple of dozen ideas, including a quick and easy suggestion from me - signs asking people to switch off their engines while they queue. That would ease pollution, at least.
