St. Albans Namesake Towns and Villages

St. Albans, has given it's name to several other places in the World -
St. Albans in the US state of Vermont and St. Albans in New South
Wales, Australia.
Vermont was chartered
in 1763. It remains one of the smallest "cities" - although we'd
probably call it a village - in the state, with just 7,650 inhabitants.
The town, nestled between Lake Champlain and the Green Mountains,
sounds (and looks) picturesque and is particularly proud of it's Maple Festival.
North of Sydney, Australia, you'll find St. Albans, New South Wales. The origins of the village name is disputed, although most believe
the use of St. Albans was in honour of a village citizen Ann Bailey,
who was born and christened Ann Smith, in July 1809 at St. Albans
Abbey, in England. Smith, who had married and taken her husband's
surname Bailey in England, was sent to Australia as a convict. The village appears, at least on the internet and in guide books, to consist of a pub and little else.
Have you ever been one of the other St. Albans? Are you from St.
Albans, Vermont or St. Albans, NSW? If so, we'd love to hear any
stories you might have, or see any photographs you might have to
share...

There are towns called St. Albans in the following US states: West Virginia, Maine, New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Utah. (As well as endless townships, I'm sure, including one a short distance from where I live in Ohio.) tinyurl.com/365de2l

ReportI've been to St Albans in New South Wales. It's a random little place with a pub and a few kangeroos! It's the off-roading way to the Hunter Valley.
