Plans to build homes on playing fields formerly owned by St. Albans School are to be revealed to the public today. Plans to build on the playing fields, of****** Harry Lane, have been the subject controversy for almost 10 years, with some local people worried the development could lead to increased traffic at what is already a local traffic black-spot.
Linden Homes have received outline permission to build a "retirement community" of 150 on the site, which they plan to name "Kings Park".
The plans will be on show at Prae Wood Primary School from 10am to 2pm today, and again on Tuesday from 4.30 to 8pm.
Managing director for Linden Homes Chiltern, Darren Maddox, said in a statement: "We are delighted to have formed a partnership with Wates to prepare our proposals for King’s Park and are committed to designing a scheme in line with the outline planning consent that will enhance and respect its surroundings and provide a range of much needed family accommodation in St Albans."
