Commuters arrived at St. Albans City Station this morning to find that nearly all southbound services had been cancelled.

Staff Attempt to Keep the Station Itself Open
Station staff were observed doing their best to keep the station itself open, even if there weren't any trains to take commuters into London.
Several commuters were overheard complaining that the snow had fallen on Saturday, giving First Capital Connect more than ample time to get trains moving again.
After spending about 40 minutes at the station myself, a train did arrive at around 08.40 but there wasn't enough room to accommodate all the passengers on the platform. The station manager announced that the next Southbound service wasn't expected for another 50 minutes, causing most commuters to leave the station and head home.
Regular commuters will be reminded of January last winter, when First Capital Connect services were severely hindered by the weather and a shortage of drivers, and wondering if this is only the beginning of yet another winter of suffering.
